Whistler RV Park and Campground Host "Rich" zips along in Minnesota

The Camp Hosts at Whistler RV Park and Campground are zipping through the summer!

There’s still time to visit the newly built Whistler RV Park, and to set up your RV or tent on a spectacular bluff overlooking panoramic views of Whistler mountain and BlackTusk.

The big Labour day weekend is almost here, and there’s still room at the park for bookings. And if you like the looks of a zipline adventure , Whistler ZipTrek has options avalible for the timid and the most adventurous visitor!

Ziptrek has three distinct ziplining tours to chose from: Bear, Eagle and Mammoth. The main difference between the first two tours will be the length of your ziplines as well as your scenery; both of tours last 2.5 to 3 hours in duration and include 5 ziplines. The Mammoth tour includes both the Bear and Eagle lines in a huge 10 line tour. This tour lasts 4.5 hours, a mid-tour meal will be provided on course.

Ziptrek Bear’s 5 ziplines range between 200′ and 1100′ in length, with the exception of the first line this tour takes place in the old growth rainforest and you have the option of flipping upside down on the last line!

Ziptrek Eagle’s 5 ziplines range between 400′ and over 2000′ in length! This tour starts in the old growth rainforest but ends in Whistler Village making some of these lines steeper.

You can book your ZipTrek with the friendly Whistler RV Park front desk staff, or book online.

Squamish to Host two-day Music Festival over Labour Day Weekend!

Posted: Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

The community of Squamish (population: 15,000) is about to be rocked.

On Labour Day weekend, the first edition of the Live at Squamish festival will host more than 40 international and local bands and artists, including Devo, the Decemberists, punk rock vets Bad Religion, legendary DJ Z-Trip, as well as We Are the City, Rich Hope, Hollerado and Tokyo Police Club. The two-day event taking place on Saturday, Sept. 4, and Sunday, Sept. 5, will also feature art installations and live art performances in an Artisan and First Nations Village, showcasing the cultural diversity of the Squamish area.

Tickets for the event go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. via www.liveatsquamish.com,where you will also find the festival’s complete lineup. Special early-bird weekend passes are $125 (regular $145), while single-day tickets are $79. Special VIP passes will also be available for $249.50, which includes parking, preferred entry and access to the festival’s VIP zone.

Located 40 minutes north of Vancouver along the new Sea to Sky Highway, the event will have a capacity of 13,000 festivalgoers per day, said Paul Runnals, the senior vice-president of production with the brand. LIVE Management Group, which is organizing Live at Squamish. As for accommodations, Squamish has 500 hotel rooms available, Runnals said, and there is always the option of attending the festival in “Sasquatch fashion” by staying overnight in one of the area’s many campgrounds.

It has been a rough year for music festivals.

Earlier this spring, promoter Live Nation announced it was putting Pemberton on hold indefinitely. A few weeks ago, Virgin cancelled all of its Virgin Festival dates for 2010. Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith came under fire regarding its shifting lineup, ticket prices and awkward choice of venues.

Economic realities aside, Runnals had nothing but great things to say about Squamish’s Logger Sports Grounds, the woody patch of land facing the ocean that will host the event’s three stages. “It’s an absolutely stunning site,” he said. “For a festival, it’s probably one of the best, if not the best, in the Lower Mainland.”
